Digital Pornography and the Affective Formation of Contemporary Masculinity: an analysis of desire, intimacy, and identity construction

This research project investigates how digital pornography may participate in shaping references regarding desire, intimacy, and masculinity in contemporary society. Drawing from an interdisciplinary literature review, the study gathers contributions from Communication, Psychology, Sociology, Psychoanalysis, and Gender Studies to understand how transformations in digital culture influence processes of socialization, identity construction, and male affective formation.

The research adopts a qualitative and bibliographical approach, engaging with classic and contemporary authors as well as recent scientific evidence to analyze pornography not merely as sexual content, but as a communicational phenomenon embedded in an ecosystem marked by the attention economy, digital hyperstimulation, and the algorithmic mediation of human experiences.

The objective of this work is to contribute to the academic debate on masculinity, intimacy, and digital culture, proposing a well-founded reflection on the processes of affective formation in the contemporary world.
